Efecty accelerates its transformation process with AWS and I CLOUD 7
Efecty is a private, limited company dedicated to offering money order, payment, and collection services throughout Colombia.
With a network of more than 10,000 Efecty Service Points located in 1,076 municipalities nationwide, it is recognized as a pioneer in the money transfer market with solidity, experience, and internally developed technology that adapts to the needs of its customers.
Challenge
As part of its digital transformation and innovation process, Efecty launched its wallet to the market in 2021, seeking to provide an omnichannel experience to all its customers. In 2023, it began a process of updating and re-architecting the FrontEnd of its wallet, seeking a flexible solution that would allow it to control all requests to its services in a granular, secure and easy way, automate the sending of notifications (SMS, push), store and accelerate the delivery of static content.

Solution
Once the client validated the different services and providers on the market, and with the advice of I CLOUD 7 's team of experts in architecture, user experience, and security, Efecty made the decision to migrate the wallet's FrontEnd services to Amazon Web Services.
The solution proposed by the I CLOUD 7 team focused on ensuring the availability and security of the client's services, designing and implementing a robust serverless architecture. This included Amazon Lambda for the deployment of the different APIs, guaranteeing scalability and elasticity; Amazon API Gateway for granular access control and defining consumption quotas for each API; Amazon WAF for protection and obtaining metrics on API consumption patterns; Amazon S3 for storing static content; Amazon SNS and Amazon SQS for managing notifications and queues; Amazon Certificate Manager; and Amazon Aurora MySQL for data management. A Pilot Light disaster recovery strategy was also implemented, and Amazon CloudWatch is used as a monitoring tool, along with AWS Config and AWS CloudTrail as additional auditing and logging tools.

Benefits
Availability:
• Increased by 99.95% by defining deployment strategies across multiple Availability Zones (AZs), minimizing the impact if failures occur in a specific zone.
• Data replication and storage: In Amazon Aurora MySQL, production databases were configured with multi-AZ, which allows read replicas to be maintained in a different Availability Zone, ensuring greater availability in the event of failures . With Amazon S3, replicas were activated to other regions.
Scalability:
The microservices layer was configured to scale automatically based on metrics collected through Amazon CloudWatch.
• Amazon Lambda: High-powered Lambda functions were configured with provisioned concurrency to increase responsiveness and performance.
• Amazon S3: To ensure fast delivery of static and frequently accessed content, Amazon S3 remains on S3 Standard and later moves to S3 Standard-IA.
Security:
• The level of security is increased with the use of Amazon WAF, guaranteeing OWASP TOP 10 validation on all APIs, and all data in transit is sent encrypted.
Operation:
• The number of operations operations needing to intervene to scale services is reduced by 90%. Everything is automated and the responsible departments are notified according to the workflows defined with the client.
Costs:
• Infrastructure costs are reduced by 30% compared to the previous service provider.
